What to Expect

Ortho-bionomy® sessions are about an hour in length. After an initial discussion about what you would like to work on in the session you will lie on a massage table fully clothed. The practitioner will use a combination of techniques to release your body.

As the body works as a whole, we approach things in a holistic way. For instance, if you have a neck issue, we will check out what is happening in the lower back, pelvis, and feet as well as thoracic area and shoulders. In this way we can assess the underlying postural component to the sore neck. We then release the tension patterns using a variety of techniques and reassess.

With Ortho-bionomy sessions, most people experience a deep sense of relaxation. It can take your body 2 or 3 days to fully integrate the changes from the session. This can sometimes be felt as mild pain in areas where you don’t normally feel pain. This is a good thing, as it means the broader tension patterns in your body are releasing. If pain persists, or is very strong, you need to give me a call – you may just need to do a self-care exercise so your body can continue to integrate the changes from your session.

In the last part of your session, self-care exercises will be discussed. If you do them, you will get the best results.
